Disney Coins

I'm not sure how many of you are aware that Disney has Silver collectibles coins. I would recommend investing some time in collecting a few of them. Believe it or not real money like gold and silver hold their value, unlike the paper dollar. Remember when you could by four gallons of gas for a dollar. Well the same amount of silver still buys four gallons of gas. So what I'm getting at is if you start collecting these Disney Silver Coins 10 years from now they will be worth a lot more than what you paid for them.

I have seen websites selling some of these coins for $40 to $75 dollars. I went to ebay and you can get the same coins for a lot less. Some of the coins that are worth a lot are the Mickey Mouse Sorcerer coin, this coin goes for $200 at Disneyshowcase.com and it is selling on ebay for $39.99. Also the Snow White Coins are valuable as well as the seven dwarfs.

Just think the way our economic state is right now investing in precious metals is the way to go. But why not add a spin to it and collect Disney Silver Coins. The Silver Coin market is huge, 20 maybe 30 years down the road those Silver coins could be worth thousands.

If you are interested in learning more about the silver market check out Monex.Com for some good tips.

When it Rains At Disney Wolrld

Unfortunately, if you are going to Disney World this summer you can count on it raining at some point of your visit. I can't tell you the number of times I have been caught in the rain while at one of the theme parks. So here are some of the tips I have picked up over the years.

First of all it is a great idea to stop by your local dollar store before you leave for you trip. At the dollar store where I live you can buy a pack of two rain ponchos for a dollar. The good thing about these is they are folded up so small they can actually fit in your back pocket. If you don't do this you will be forced you pay anywhere form $15 to $25 for a rain poncho at Disney. And the ponchos that they sell are made out of a thick material and you get hot really easy. With the ones from the dollar store they are usually clear and made out of a really thin material. Also if you have a child that will be in a stroller buy an extra one for them. Drape it over the stroller so the child and the inside of the stroller will not get wet.

Another tip is, 9 times out of 10 when it starts raining it will stop within 30 minutes. So your whole trip will not be runied. Just seek cover like all the other guests, or take that opportunity to sit down and eat.

One tip that I would highly suggest is to bring two pair of sneakers when you go to Disney. That way if you are caught in a rain storm, you have a dry pair of sneakers to at the hotel to wear later or the next day. If you don't have two pairs of sneakers I would suggest putting paper towels in your shoes when you take them off and leave them in there over night. It will help them dry quicker. Also you are the type of family that likes bringing in a back pack or if you have small child a diaper bag, throw an extra pair of socks in there for each family member. That way when it stops raining you can put on an dry pair of socks.

Disney Cast Members

I'm sure you have heard me say Disney Cast Members a lot, but some of you may not know what I"m talking about. Well for those who don't, Disney calls their workers cast members. I'm not 100% why, but I think it's because Disney likes their employees to feel important and that they mean something to the company.

I will let you in a some of the perks that the Disney Cast Members get.. For one they get to get in free to the theme parks whenever they want. They are also allotted a certain number of free tickets to give to family members or friends. They also get discounts on everything, including shopping at Downtown Disney. They are given Disney Collectibles that can't be bought. At the end of every year they give their employees a nice gift. Like a watch or Disney Pins that can't be bought.

One thing I thought was a little odd was Disney Cast Members are not allowed to be seen in their uniforms outside of work. Also they have to use the Disney point. They are not allowed to point with their index finger. They have to use either their index and middle finger or their whole hand.

Another really great perk is being able to buy things from lost and found that are not claimed at a very very reasonable price. Oh and the most fun perk of being a Disney Cast Members is going where guest are not allowed. My aunt tells me cool things all the time about things she has seen way behind the scenes. So there is a little insight on Disney Cast Members.

The New Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Dinsey World

I know I just wrote about Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday, but I thought this was good information. I mentioned oh months ago that Disney was updating The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World and Disneyland. Well they are finished with everything and the rides are about to open shortly. When I heard they were going to add Johnny Deep into the ride and change the story line a little bit, I was excited, I love Johnny Depp and the movie. But I will admit I was a little curious to what they were going to do.

I came across an article this morning explaining what all they changed on the rides. They added new video and lighting, digitally remastered the audio, and added sinpets from both the movies soundtracks, they added 400,000 new gold coins and set pieces. Not to mention they had to drain 750,000 gallons of water out and replaces it with new.

Now for the story line of the ride. The pirates will be chasing after Jack Sparrow and yes ladies the animatronics figures was modeled after Johnny Depp. But before jack can reach his treasure, he has to fight with Captain Barbossa.. Also the image of Davy Jones form the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie was added. The banjo player at the edge of the bayou has some new licks, and the cannon blasts will be more up close and realistic. Depp, Rush and Nighly all added their voice to the soundtrack of the ride that will be blasted over 220 speakers throughout the ride. So all in all I think this new version of the classic ride sounds great, I can't wait to go to Disney and ride it for myself. Keep in mind though the new version of the ride doesn't open until July 7, 2006, the same day the movie opens in theaters.

Disney Planning On Licensing PIrates of the Caribbean

I'm sure some of you parents out there may feel that when it comes to your little boys Disney has kind of left them out. Disney has a bunch of Disney Consumer Products for your little girls, like The Princess', Tinkerbell, and of Course Winnie The Pooh and Mickey and Friends. While the boys only have Toy Story, and now CARS, but the exciting news for boys and girls I suppose, is Disney is planning on marketing Pirates of the Caribbean as they have the Disney Princess'. They are planning on coming out with toys related to the movie, they are going to have a high-end apparel and jewelry line, and they are going to publish books geared toward your preteens. The Pirates of the Caribbean product will be featured in all your key categories at all the major retail stores. I would assume they will probably get around to doing a bedroom suit as well. My predictions is they will probably have everything that The princess's have but it will be Pirates of the Caribbean. Which I personally think will be really cool.

Disney is developing a made for video feature called Faries. Of course Tink will be the star of the movie and Brittany Murphy is going to supply the voice of Tnkerbell. No word yet on when the movie is going to be released.

Disney's The Rescuers

I thought I would take everyone back into time today. Over the weekend I was thinking about this movie, The Rescuers. Many of you may not have even heard of it, some of you may have. The movie was released in 1983 and 1989 in the theaters and was released on video in 1993.

The movie is about a rescue aid society, that is an international organization of mice. They receive a plea of help from a little orphaned girl named Penny. Penny was kidnapped by the evil Madame Medusa. Madame Medusa kidnapped Penny in hopes that she could retrieve a fabulous diamond called The Devil's Eye. The case was given to Bianca and Bernard. Bianca and Bernard have a wondrous adventure trying to get to Penny, but in the end they were able to save her and the diamond.

The main reason I was thinking about this movie is Bianca and Bernard befriend the local animal community right outside of Madame Medusa's house and they help Bianca and Bernard rescue poor little Penny. Well there is a dragonfly named Evinrude. This is what brings me to the reason I'm writing about this. Over the weekend I was in my pool floating around on my float, I suddenly felt something on my big toe. I opened my eyes and what do I see? A dragonfly was sitting on my big toe. I call this little dragonfly Evinrude, because of this movie. Well little Evinrude stayed on my big toe for 3 hours while I was in the pool. He has been coming to me for 3 years now. I'm the only one he will come too, which I think is really cool. I just wanted to share that with everyone.

I also would recommend seeing this movie, granted it is Disney so it's a kid movie, but I think it's one your children would really like.

A Year Of A Million Dreams

As I mentioned last Saturday that there was going to be a contest that would allow guests to spend the night in Cinderella's Royal Chamber. Well I have learned more about this. It is not going to be a contest at all. Every year Disney World and Disneyland have a slogan of what the year's celebration is going to be. Well starting October 1, 2006 A Year of a Million Dreams is going to start.

Disney cast members are going to be awarding a million dreams to guest. These dreams are big and small, and include many "money can't buy" experiences. The big dreams that they are giving away are a night in Cinderella's Royal Chamber and at Disneyland a night in Mickey Mouse Penthouse at the Disneyland Resort. Both of these are still under construction and won't be ready until January of 2007. But some of the dreams they are offering is a Golden Fastpass, no word yet on what the benefits are on that though. They are also going to give a way dream vacations and private meetings with Disney Characters.

They still haven't determined how the cast members are going to pick the guests and what the procedures will be for that. But I'm sure they will get that work out real soon.

Also if you are lucky enough to get chosen to spend the night in the Royal Chamber they say you will get the royal treatment all day long. Again no word on what that royal treatment will be.

So if you are planning on going to Disney World this fall, winter or next year maybe you will get lucky and get awarded a dream.

Every Wanted To Go Behind The Scenes At Disney World?

Some people may not be aware that Walt Disney World offers backstage and guided tours. These tours usually only take place during the week, the tours have very strict guideline too. A lot of the tours do not allow guests who are under the age of 16, most all of them require a separate ticket, and no photography is allowed. For some strange reason they don't give a listing of the times of these tours on their website. If you want more information you can call 407-939-8687.

Now for some of the tours that they offer. Around the World at Epcot you cruise around the park on a segway and the cost for that is $80. Backstage Magic is at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM. This is a seven hour tour that takes you behind the scenes of these 3 parks for $199 a person. Backstage Safari is at Animal Kingdom and it takes you behind the scene to different animal facilities and the elephant barn, it cost $65 a person. The behind the seeds tour is at Epcot and you get an up close look of the greenhouses and fish farms. Adults are $12 and children are $10. Epcot Dive Quest, this is only for certified divers, they can dive into the giant aquarium at The Living Sees, it cost $140 a person. Dolphins of the Deep you get an up close and personal experience with the dolphins of the Living Sees, it cost $150 a person. The keys of the Kingdom tour is at Magic Kingdom and it gives you a backstage and a onstage look of the history of Disney's parks. It cost $58 a person. And lastly The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, which is at Magic Kingdom, you get an inside look on how they maintain all the trains at the parks. It cost $40 a person.

So if you have been to Disney World many times before and you are looking for something new to do, why not look into one of these tours.

Celebrity Sightings In Orlando

It's hard to believe that 150 years ago cattle raising was the primary way to make a living in Orlando, it sure has come a long way since then. Now Orlando makes it's money from the 43.3 million tourist that visit the 7 major theme parks Orlando has to offer.

I have been going down to Orlando since I was 13 years old and I have seen and run into many celebrities while I was there. You see celebrities are just like us they want to come to Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios and have a great time. So what I'm trying to say is if you see a celebrity while you are vacationing in Orlando this summer please don't bother them. They are more than likely on vacation with their family and they don't want to be bothered. The last time I was at Disney MGM Vanilla Ice actually bumped right into me. He said excuse me, I'm sorry and I smiled at him and let him go on his way. I've also seem Dr. Dre the famous rapper at Burger King and I never said anything to him. I've seen Tiger Woods in his neighborhood playing golf and I didn't bother him either. I've seen numerous basketball players all around Orlando as well. I even saw Justin TImberlake at the grocery store one time I couldn't believe it was him because it was when NSYNC was really popular. But I had already met him at twice at a 2 different concerts so seeing was good enough for me. And yes ladies he is just as handsome in person as he is on TV or magazines.

You are probably wondering why so many people flock to Orlando. Well it's mainly because of all the great gated communities and The Orlando Luxury Real Estate that is available there. Not to mention Orlando has a great night life, great concerts and great festivals. Another reason so many famous people like Orlando is because a lot of the gated neighborhoods are built on lakes. So they can hop in their boat or whatever water craft they have and have a blast without anyone bothering them.

So please remember if you see a celebrity this summer while you are in Orlando don't bother them and let the memory of seeing them be enough.

Disney Hallmark Ornaments

I know it's only summer but that's when Hallmark starts selling their Christmas Ornaments. I thought I would let y'all in on some of the Disney ornaments that they have this year. Of course they have the Winnie The Pooh ornaments that they have every year. This year they have A Lighting and Mater ornament from Disney's CARS. They are sold together and it cost $15.00. The one that is my favorite is the Pirate Of The Caribbean. It's the scene where Jack is in jail and is trying to get the dog to hand him the key. The cool part is the ornament plays "A Pirates Life For Me" This ornament is not available until October to you'll have to wait a little longer for this one. They also have a Buzz Lightyear ornament that is $15.00.

If you want to look at all the Disney ornaments that have for this year head over to Hallmark.

Disney Happy Meal Toys Are More Valuable

I was reading an article today that said since McDonald's and Disney are parting ways after Pirates of The Caribbean is released. That the happy meal toys are going to rise in value. So parents if you have any Disney happy meal toys laying around the house I suggest putting them in a safe place for a while. For example they are predicting if you have all 6 of the cars Happy meal toys that are out right now they will be $24.95. The Incredibles 8 piece set is worth $29.95 and the 50th Anniversary 8 piece collection is worth $8.95. Granted these prices are based on the whole set, but if you have one or two of them I still think in time they will be worth something.

Also a little money saving tip for you parents. I'm sure your children are driving you crazy to get anything and everything that has Disney's CARS printed on it. Well the dollar store here around me has CARS Ink pens that are really cute, pencils and folders for just a dollar. So head to your local dollar store and see if they have any. The dollar store is also a great place to get Disney stickers at for just a dollar. From time to time I can also find Disney coloring books there so always keep an eye peeled.

Disney's CARS

I'm sure all you parents out there are full aware the Disney's CARS movie opened over the weekend. Well if you were not able to go and see it, I would suggest packing up the kids and heading to your local movie theater. My husband and I went to go see it last night and I thought it was a very cute movie. I would recommend it to anyone.

I will say I was very impressed with the way they made the cars so human like. I also loved the personalities they gave the cars. I laughed several times at things that were said and done.

CARS is about this arrogant race car Lighting McQueen. He ends up tying with two other race cars at the big race, so the officials decided to have a another race in California to determine the winner. Well on the way to California Lighting ends up getting separated from his 18 wheeler and ends up in this very very small town off of Route 66. Well he ends up tearing up the road in their town so he is sentenced to repave the road in this town. Well of course he ends up making friends with everyone and he even falls in love. And he learns a big lesson at the ends of the movie, which in return makes him a happier car.

Spend The Night In Cinderella's Castle

You heard me right Walt Disney World is in the mist of planning a contest that will allow contestants to spend the night in Cinderella's Royal Chamber. The only problem is there is no Royal Chamber yet.

If you have a little girl who loves Cinderella you are probably thinking how can I enter and how can I increase my chances of winning? Well those are great questions that Craig Dezern, the marketing Vice President says "those details are still being worked out. The apartment is only a shell right now, with planners discussing how to turn it into a royal chamber" They are predicting the suite will not be ready until January of 2007.

Some people claim that Walt Disney himself had made plans for a family suite in Cinderella's Castle, but Walt died in 1966 and construction began on the castle in 1969. It seems Walt's brother Roy wanted to carry through with those plans but he died in 1971 weeks after Magic Kingdom opened to the world. So needless to say this wonderful apartment was never finished.

So as soon as I find out more information about this incredible contest I will let ya'll know.

Mickey's Very Merry Chirtsmas Party

I know it's a bit early to start talking about Christmas, but I thought I would inform everyone on this. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a popular event at Disney's Magic Kingdom and tickets go fast for this one, a lot of the locals love to go to this. So if you and your family are planning on going down to Orlando in early November and December, then listen up. Advanced purchase tickets are $39.95 for adults and $31.95 for children. Keep in mind these low cost tickets are any for selected dates. The dates are November, 13,17,27,28,30 and December 4,5,7,11,12, and 14. If you are not able to make it to anyr of those dates then you can buy tickets for December 15,18,19,21, and 22 for $45.95 for adults and $37.95 for children.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at midnight, please note that you have to buy a separate ticket for this event. You cannot use your admission ticket for that day for this event.

There are special attractions during this party. The most popular would have to be the Very Merry Christmas Parade. If features, toy solider's playing horns, ginger bread men and anything else Christmas you can imagine. They even have cookies and hot chocolate and the best part is it snows on Main Street.

Disney has even put together several live shows for this special event. They have Every Day's a Holiday with Mickey, Minnie and the Kids of the Kingdom, and of course you can't have a Christmas celebration without T'was the night before Christmas, except they call it Mickey's T'was the Night Before Christmas which is preformed several times a night. They also have Goofy dressed up as Santa Claus. And a special holiday edition of "Wishes" fireworks show.

So if you are planning a trip to Disney this winter try to attend this special event. I would suggest going in early December and remember the park won't be as crowed in early December.

Take A Walk In Walt Disney's Shoes

There is a great tour offered at Disneyland that I wish was offered at Disney World. but unfortunately it is not. The tour is called "Footsteps" The tour only allows 20 people a tour b/c they want it to remain imitate. The tour is a behind the scenes look at Disneyland, and it literally takes you thru Walt's steps as he built his dream.

During the tour your tour guide points out little things that you have probably walked by a dozen times without given it a thought. One that I thought was really interesting was there is one light that stays on at Disneyland 24/7 365 days a year. This light comes from a second floor window above the firehouse on Main Street. This was Walt Disney's apartment. Walt put in so many long hours when Disneyland was being built he had an apartment built. So he could always look over construction and make sure things were going as planned. Every since his death the light has stayed lit, it reminds all the workers that Walt's sprit is still there.

The reason the "Footsteps" tour is not offered at Disney World is because Walt never actually set foot in Disney World. He became ill and died shortly after things got rolling. So if any of you are planning on going to Disneyland anytime soon be sure to check out this really informational tour.

Favorite Disney Character

I thought I would do something fun today. I want to know who your favorite Disney Character is. Mine is Tinker Bell. I've always like Tinker Bell for some reason .Maybe it's b/c I can relate to her being a very petite women myself. LOL. I've always thought she was cute and full of life.

I used to have a Tinker Bell sticker on my car and my hubby hated it. He was so glad when we sold my car so he wouldn't have to deal with the sticker anymore. He made me promise I wouldn't get a Tinker Bell sticker to put in my Corvette. Of course I agreed. A Corvette isn't really the type of car you put a Tinker Bell sticker on.

So let me know who your favorite character is.

Growing up as a child bikermomma liked Mickey Mouse because of the great relationship he has with Pluto. Now she likes Donald.

Well that's 2 for Donald. Liz owner of Pedal Car likes him too b/c he is always doing things differntly and it always seems to get him in trouble.

Snow White is Susan's from Susan's Spa favorite. She says I was absolutely dazzled by her. She was beautiful, sweet and generous to the seven dwarves. In the end, she became a princess..every little girl's dream.

Xiti's favorite Disney character is Winnie The Pooh. He's so rumbly in his tummy that you can't help but love the little guy as Xiti puts it. Beleive me Xiti you are not alone. Pooh bear is such a lovable guy.

Jacquelyn of Jacquelyn's World loves goofy. She used to be facinated with his goffiness, she even used to collect Goofy stuff.

Smbwallce of Mommy's Working loves Mickey Mouse. She even decorated her kids room in Mickey and friends. She can't wait until her children out grow it b/c she wants to make a qilt out of the Mickey curtain's she got them.

Connie from Katie's Hugs likes Jiminey Cricket. When she was in 1st and 2nd grade they would watch educational movies and they always had Jiminey Cricket in them.

Kendra from Relieve Stress also likes Goofy, even though he is always doing crazy stuff you can't help not to laugh.

Disney Cars' Characters Added To Parade

I'm sure all of your children are eargerly awaiting for next Friday to get here so they can see Cars in the theater. I know I can't wait to see it. Well MGM has added Mater the tow truck and Lightning McQueen the race car to their Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade. So if you are planning a trip to Disney World this summer be sure you take some time to catch this parade at MGM.

The parade lasts about 25 minutes and is usually done in the last afternoon. When you get to the park be sure to pick up a brochure so you will know the exact time. The parade starts at The Star Gate and makes it way down Hollywood Boulevard and ends in front of the park. I think a good spot to view the parade is at the beginning at the Star Tour Gate. Another good spot would be at the end of the parade route at Sid Cahuenga's.

There are a ton of Disney Characters that take part in this parade so be sure you have your camera ready. The Power Rangers, Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc, Andy's bed, Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep Jessie, Mr. Potato Head and the Green Army men from Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Bert and dancing penguins, Aladdin and Jasmine, and playhouse Disney characters such as Bear, Stanley, P and J Otter JoJo and many many more.

Now for Disney World, FL residents can purchase tickets for $56.70 for an adult and $47.00 for a child. This is a $6.30 discount for adults and a $5 discount for a child. FL residents can also purchase a one day hopper pass for just $10 extra dollars or a three day hopper pass for $20 a person. This is a great deal.

If you are a FL resident and you buy tickets online fro Universal Studios you can get an adult ticket for $56.70 and a child ticket for $46.80. You are saving $6.30 for an adult ticket and $5.20 for a child ticket. This tickets are hopper passes so you can go to Universal as well as Islands of Adventures.

If you are not lucky enough to live in FL have you every thought of an Orlando vacation home? I love having one, well it's my aunt and uncle's house. Orlando is after all the number one tourist destination in the world. Orlando welcomes more than 43.3 million people to their city every year. So why not think about getting a vacation home. That way you won't have to deal with finding a hotel and all that jazz. If you are interested check out Vacation home Orlando and see if they might have something for you and your family.

There is a lot more to Orlando than just the theme parks, they have a great night life, and great festivals. There is even a great county side to Orlando, granted it's 45 minute drive but you will be greeted by rolling hills and oak trees. This is what they considered horse breeding county. Or if you go down a little further south you can take a ride on a airboat across the Everglades. So all in all Orlando and it's surrounding cities have got a lot to offer.
